Mmm it might sound like bondage talk but I actually mean I’m easing the visitor restrictions on this site..
When the UK did is OSA thing the best I could figure was that the easiest way to be compliant right away was to just block uk traffic altogether, which I did at the time because everyone was up in arms about it but I had other things going on and just needed time to wrap my head around it and figure out what needed to happen.
I realised recently though, this site is hardly ‘pornographic’ (anymore) so perhaps I don’t really need to worry. Recently I’ve posted more rants about coding and financial structures than anything which might be considered “adult content” and the pics on the photos page are hot, but actually pretty tame*. Certainly no worse than a newspaper or magazine or my model profile which is also online… so ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯
*though that may change.
So for now I’m gonna lift the country block for a bit and see how I feel about it. I may put it back, or maybe uk authorities have better things to do than chasing ghosts around the countryside for posting a few arty pics here and there.
As part of larger infrastructure updates I’ve also just migrated the site to a different type of database (mysql->sqlite) which ought to hopefully sidestep the issue I’ve had forever with mysql mysteriously falling over any time a breeze got near it. I’ve had good results with this new setup on my other sites so I’m hoping it works well here too.
Everything has been on hold for so long while I dealt with “all the moving house bullshit” and getting set up at the new place that I’d sorta forgotten it wasn’t always like that.
But I’m gradually getting to the point where things have been working a little bit here and there, and I’ve got a few creature comforts too, and so naturally my mind is wandering to other things… 😉
